Christine Renner was in the studio for Local Licks on Tuesday. Her new EP Heartbreaker comes out Saturday, and she’ll be celebrating the release of it Saturday with a show at Empire–it’s also her 22nd birthday that day!
Christine Renner – “Sweet” She made the backdrop for this video herself–she said she wanted it to look like backstage at a Joan Jett show in 1981. I think she succeeded!

13th Floor Elevators – “You’re Gonna Miss Me” There is a tribute album coming out for the late Roky Erickson, called May The Circle Remain Unbroken. It features artists such as Billy F Gibbons, Gary Clark Jr. and Eve Monsees, Jeff Tweedy, The Black Angels, and many more. And this Sunday at Waterloo Record at 4:00 there will be a listening party/autograph session with The Black Angels, Eve Monsees, and Charlie Sexton on hand. Details here
Pretty Little Thieves – “The Death of Anton Newcombe” They’re playing this Friday at Cenote Black Lodge on Cameron Road
Alpha Rev – “Crystal Colorado (Bloom) Alpha Rev play Saturday at Haute Spot in Cedar Park at Rosefest, a benefit for “To Cure A Rose.” It’s all to help Alpha Rev songwriter and frontman Casey McPherson’s daughter, Rose, who suffers from a rare genetic disease. Doors at 4:00 pm.
Kyote Radio – “Color” from their upcoming album Real Crime, set to be released on August 27th
