It has not been a good month for Austin establishments. Last week’s sad news started when Cap City Comedy announced they would not be reopening which was followed by the North Door, Mugshots and now Buffalo Billiards. Over the years KLBJ and our sister stations hosted many awesome events at Buffalo Billiards. We dug deep into the events pictures folder and found these from Charlie Hodge’s Red Hot Redhead Bouncy Boxing In Bikinis back in 2008.
Here is the official statement:
After 21 years on historic Sixth Street, Buffalo Billiards (located at 201 East Sixth Street) has made the difficult decision to close for good. We are proud to have been a source of entertainment for not only the Austin community, but also the many tourists and convention attendees that passed through downtown. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and rising operating costs, we must say goodbye. We take with us the memories thousands of private events, amazing SXSW concerts, friendly competitions on our tables, and too many UT games to count. We wish our neighbors well and look forward to visiting them after the pandemic.
Thank you, Austin, for your support over the past 21 years!
